A JOURNEY BY BOAT I MADE
Bangladesh
is a land of rivers. So it is very easy to enjoy a journey by boat here.
Journey by boat is very interesting and enjoyable in our country.
It was the month of Powsh. The river was
calm and quiet. My father asked me to go to my sister's house at Nabinagar, 12
kilo-metres away from our house. So I got a chance to make a journey by boat.
Two other friends joined with me.
We hired a nice looking boat. On the
fixed day the boatman came with one of his helpers, We started our journey from
home at 10 am. The sky was clear. The weather was very fresh. The river was
calm and full to the brim. At first the boatman plies the boat with oars. When
the wind was favorable, they set sail. There were small waves in the river. The
boat was going along in the river. The boat began to dance with the waves. The
boatmen were singing. It was a Bhatial, song. It filled us with joy.
The surrounding sights were very
charming. We enjoyed the scenery of the fiver. We saw many boas big and small
plying up and down. Fisherman was catching fish in the river. Boys and girls
were swimming. Women were going home with jars filled with water. There were
green fields on both sides to the river. Cattle were grazing there. Children
were seen at the bathing Ghats. The ripen paddy were in the fields on the both
sides of the river. At about 3 pm. we reached the ghat of my sister's house. My
sister was very glad to see us.
A journey by boat is really it pleasant
one. It was the most pleasant journey in my life. I enjoyed it very much. The
memory of the journey will remain ever fresh my heart.
